SSI identifies 2,404 individuals: Paid pensions will be clawed back with interest!
As a result of audits conducted by the Social Security Institution (SSI) in 2024, 2,404 individuals were identified who had divorced their spouses to receive orphan pensions but continued to live in the same household. While legal proceedings have been initiated against these individuals, the necessary steps have been taken to recover the pensions paid by the SSI with interest.

The Social Security Institution (SSI) continues its audits against irregularities such as unregistered employment, fake workplaces, and fraudulent insurance coverage. Working actively in the field with approximately 3,000 inspectors, the institution conducts comprehensive checks to prevent the abuse of the social security system.
Last year, the SSI scrutinized 124,982 workplaces to prevent unregistered employment and audited 12,684 workplaces suspected of being fake or having fraudulent insurance. In addition, significant findings were obtained in studies conducted on fraudulent divorce cases.
In this context, as a result of 3,002 audits carried out across Turkey throughout 2024, 2,404 people were identified who continued to receive orphan pensions unfairly by sharing the same house despite being divorced.
While legal proceedings have been initiated against these individuals, the necessary legal process has been activated to recover the pensions unfairly paid by the SSI, along with interest.
A MAJOR BLOW TO IRREGULARITIES
As a result of the SSI's audits, 2,114 workplaces were determined to be fake in 2024. Furthermore, the insurance of 94,740 people who were shown as insured despite not working or whose premiums were paid through fake workplaces was canceled.
A total of 2 billion 36 million 732 thousand liras in administrative fines were imposed on workplaces where irregularities were detected due to unregistered employment.
On the other hand, important steps have been taken to bring more workplaces and employees into the social security system. In this context, 21,634 people were brought under insurance coverage, and 518 workplaces were officially registered.
