The financial statements of the Republic of Türkiye State Railways (TCDD) have revealed the scale of price hikes for high-speed train tickets. According to the data, prices were increased nine times between January 2022 and June 2024. The institution's Treasury debt, which was 5 billion 841 million 766 thousand TL in January 2023, rose to 8 billion 537 million 969 thousand TL as of June 2024.

High-speed train ticket prices were increased by 25.6 percent following a decision made by TCDD on July 13. Following the hike, the Ankara-Istanbul ticket price was raised from 430 TL to 540 TL, the Ankara-Konya ticket price from 200 TL to 250 TL, and the ticket price on the Ankara-Eskişehir line from 225 TL to 280 TL. Following the hike, which drew public backlash, the Konya-Istanbul ticket price rose from 630 TL to 790 TL, and the Konya-Sivas ticket price increased from 675 TL to 800 TL.

According to a report by Mustafa Bildircin from Birgün, TCDD closed the year 2022 with a Treasury debt of 5 billion 728 million 424 thousand TL. The institution's total debt to the Treasury as of the end of January 2023 was reported as 5 billion 841 million 766 thousand TL. According to data from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, TCDD's Treasury debt has increased with each passing month. TCDD, which closed January 2023 with a Treasury debt of 5.8 billion TL, saw its Treasury debts exceed 8 billion TL in January 2024.
