Statement from AKP to sadden millions of retirees

The inflation data to be announced on July 3 will determine the salary increase rate for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees. However, a new law will be required to increase the lowest pension. AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler stated that there is no plan for this yet.

The inflation data to be announced on July 3 will clarify the rate of increase to be applied to retirees' salaries. This increase, which will be reflected in the salaries of more than 16 million retirees, will be calculated solely on base salaries. Approximately 2.5 million people who currently receive the lowest pension of 14,469 TL will not be able to benefit from this increase. Furthermore, more than 1.5 million retirees will receive a raise below the inflation difference.

A NEW LAW IS NECESSARY FOR THE LOWEST PENSION

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) is expected to go on recess on July 1 under normal circumstances. However, for a raise to be made to the lowest pension, the Assembly would need to convene after July 3. AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler responded to the question of whether there would be an adjustment to the lowest pension by saying, "It is not on the agenda right now." This statement sparked reactions from millions of retirees on social media.

ONLY ONE RAISE WAS MADE LAST YEAR

Last year, the fact that the Assembly went on recess on July 31 due to its busy agenda provided an advantage for retirees, and the lowest pension was increased to 12,500 TL. This year, if the Assembly goes on recess on July 1, the raise expectations of retirees receiving the lowest salary may be postponed until January.
