Statement from Vedat Işıkhan regarding minimum wage negotiations

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan made important statements regarding the new term of minimum wage negotiations. Responding to questions after the cabinet meeting, Minister Işıkhan stated that the process would begin as soon as possible and emphasized that the negotiations should be conducted with the participation of all segments.

Stating that preparations for the minimum wage process are nearing completion, Işıkhan said, "We will start the minimum wage negotiations soon." Işıkhan reminded that the decision-making process is not carried out by the government, but by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission.

Providing information about the commission's work schedule, Işıkhan used the following expressions: "As you know, we as the government do not determine the minimum wage; our Minimum Wage Determination Commission does. The commission will meet soon and begin its work."

Drawing attention to the importance of the commission, Işıkhan spoke as follows:

"The Minimum Wage Determination Commission is one of the most important mechanisms of social dialogue, as you know very well. We want to see all parties at the table."

Minister Işıkhan stated that official invitations would be sent shortly, adding: "We will soon send our official invitation to all parties regarding the Minimum Wage Determination Commission; to our employer and worker confederations. We want to see all 3 segments at the table."
