Statement on electricity and natural gas from Minister Bayraktar

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated in his announcement, "There will be no price hikes for electricity and natural gas until the end of the year. Those with high electricity consumption will receive less support."

Minister Bayraktar stated, "We do not foresee any price increases in electricity and natural gas until the end of this year."

'WE HAVE A LONG-TERM AGREEMENT'

Responding to the question of whether Turkey's natural gas supply would be affected if energy facilities in Iran were struck, Bayraktar said, "It would not have an impact on us regarding supply on the oil side. However, on the natural gas side, we have a long-term agreement with Iran. If there is a problem with the natural gas infrastructure, there could be a situation that affects us regarding supply. But our fundamental strategy is supply diversification. Long-term LNG agreements are also a part of this."

NEW ERA IN ELECTRICITY

According to another statement by Bayraktar, a new support model for electricity is also coming. In this model, those with low consumption will receive more support, while those with high consumption will receive less.

DAILY ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION DATA

According to AA's report, daily electricity production in Turkey yesterday was 765 thousand 960 megawatt-hours, while consumption was 751 thousand 816 megawatt-hours. According to data from the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEİAŞ), the highest electricity consumption was recorded at 20:00 with 36 thousand 890 megawatt-hours, while the lowest consumption was determined to be 26 thousand 462 megawatt-hours at 08:00.

On a daily basis, imported coal power plants ranked first in production with 24.5 percent. This was followed by natural gas at 17.5 percent and dam-based hydroelectric power plants at 14.7 percent.

Additionally, Turkey exported 16 thousand 273 megawatt-hours of electricity and imported 2 thousand 130 megawatt-hours of electricity yesterday.
