Stock market finishes the first trading day of the week higher

The BIST 100 index increased by 125.42 points compared to the previous close, with a total trading volume of 114.7 billion liras. While the banking index lost 1.13 percent in value, the holding index gained 1.62 percent.

Among sector indices, transportation was the top gainer with 4.71 percent, while insurance was the biggest decliner with 1.75 percent. Analysts stated that global equity markets began the week, in which the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will announce its monetary policy decisions, with a mixed trend, and noted that domestic markets diverged positively.

Analysts, who pointed out that the economic confidence index will be in focus domestically tomorrow, while the consumer confidence index, JOLTS job openings, and housing price index in the US, growth data in the Eurozone and Germany, and the unemployment rate in Japan will be in focus abroad, noted that technically, the 8,560 and 8,650 levels are resistance, and 8,400 and 8,250 points are support levels for the BIST 100 index.
