Stock market opens higher (September 26, 2024)

The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul opened the day with a 0.63 percent increase at 9,953.28 points.

At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose by 62.28 points and 0.63 percent compared to the previous close, reaching 9,953.28 points.

The banking index gained 0.89 percent and the holding index gained 0.35 percent. While all sector indices posted gains, the mining sector saw the highest increase with 1.12 percent.

Yesterday, the BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul followed a sell-heavy trend, closing the day with a 1.38 percent loss at 9,891.00 points.

Global markets are showing a mixed trend ahead of the statements to be made today by US Federal Reserve (Fed) Chair Jerome Powell, while growth data to be announced in the US is also in the focus of investors.

Analysts noted that today, in addition to a busy data agenda including growth and durable goods orders in the US, and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) Monetary Policy Committee (PPK) summary and weekly money and bank statistics domestically, the speeches by Fed Chair Jerome Powell and European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde will be monitored, and stated that from a technical perspective, the 10,020 and 10,200 levels are resistance, while 9,900 and 9,800 points are support levels for the BIST 100 index.
