Stock market opens the day at 9,617 points

The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul opened the day with a 0.72 percent increase at 9,617.18 points.

At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose by 69.10 points and 0.72 percent compared to the previous close, reaching 9,617.18 points.

The banking index recorded a 1.08 percent increase, while the holding index rose by 0.74 percent. Among sector indices, banking was the top gainer, while the only decliner was the securities investment trust index, which fell by 0.80 percent.

Yesterday, following a bearish trend, the BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul closed the day with a 1.36 percent loss at 9,548.09 points.

Analysts stated that global equity markets followed a negative trend as concerns grew that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) would not begin interest rate cuts anytime soon, following hawkish guidance from Fed Chair Jerome Powell.

Today, the speech expected to be delivered by Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek at the Global Outlook Forum organized by the Institute of International Finance has become the focus of investors.
