Stock market rises, gold falls sharply! Here are the week's winners and losers
While Borsa Istanbul rewarded its investors this week, gold surprised with a sharp decline. The BIST 100 index closed the week strong, rising by 2.96 percent. While the dollar showed a limited increase, there were significant declines in euro and gold prices. The investment funds that gained the most were stock funds.

Stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul brought smiles to investors this week. While the BIST 100 index drew attention with a 2.96 percent increase on a weekly basis, the index tested a low of 9,516.86 points and a high of 9,771.71 points. Closing the week at 9,668.36 points, the BIST 100 showed a strong rise compared to last week.
In the foreign exchange markets, a volatile trend prevailed. The US dollar finished the week at 38.8270 liras with a 0.21 percent increase, while the euro fell to 43.4300 liras with a 0.63 percent decline.
On the gold front, a wind of decline blew. In the Grand Bazaar, the gram price of 24-karat bullion gold fell to 3,964 liras with a 4.48 percent loss in value, while the republic gold also dropped to 26,809 liras with a 4.44 percent decline. The quarter gold, which was 6,951 liras last week, fell to 6,640 liras this week, decreasing by 4.47 percent.
In the fund markets, a positive picture prevailed. While investment funds closed the week with an average value increase of 1.65 percent, individual pension funds also recorded a rise of 1.31 percent. The group that provided the most gains on a category basis was "stock" funds with a 2.94 percent increase.
