Economist Selçuk Geçer shared his assessments regarding the exchange rate on his YouTube channel.
While analyzing the constant changes in the dollar rate, Geçer emphasized that the price difference between the Grand Bazaar and the Interbank Market does not reflect the true situation.
Evaluating the instability in the dollar rate, Selçuk Geçer stated that the difference between 32.27 TL and 32.80 TL is not very significant. Geçer said, "The dollar's instantaneous changes can generally be described as normal fluctuations. The current situation can be seen not as stagnation, but rather as a flat-line movement."
"NOT A GOOD SIGN"
Stating that "Such stagnation is not a good sign," Geçer added, "To say the dollar is falling, the dollar would need to suddenly drop to 27 TL."
In his previous statements, Geçer emphasized that a sudden rise in the dollar should be avoided, saying, "One day you might wake up and witness major changes. However, it would be healthier for the dollar to steadily retreat to the 60 TL level and move without shaking the market." According to Geçer, the real value of the dollar is around 60 TL.
