Surcharge for card payments, discount for cash coming to fuel

The Energy Petroleum Gas Supply Stations Employers' Union (EPGİS) is taking a step against the high commission rates of banks, requesting that the costs of card payments be passed on to citizens. In this context, it is also proposed that discounts be applied to cash payments.
EPGİS President Fesih Aktaş has submitted a written request regarding this matter to the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK). According to Aktaş, by not charging a card commission on cash payments, 2 liters of gasoline could be provided to citizens for free per tank.
With this method to be applied to cash payments, the goal is for the commission amount on card payments to be covered by the citizen. Given that 90 percent of purchases at fuel stations in Turkey are made with credit cards, it is stated that this request could have a significant impact.
With this initiative, the aim is to show a reaction against the high commission rates of banks and to protect the consumer.
