Tax expert explains: 'There are more public officials than taxpayers in Turkey'

Tax expert Nedim Türkmen, made a striking comment while appearing on the program titled "Economic Outlook".

Türkmen, in his statement where he used the phrase,"There is no need for 600 members of parliament in this country" added, "There are more public officials than taxpayers in Turkey. Can such a country exist? 30 percent of the budget goes to civil servants" he said.

Regarding the informal economy, which Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek has also highlighted, Türkmen further stated, "The informal economy has now surpassed the formal economy."
