TEPAV: Food inflation accelerated in September, annual increase reached 30.1 percent
According to the TEPAV Food Price Index, food prices rose by 2.23 percent monthly in the September 1-25 period, with the annual increase reaching 30.1 percent.

The Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) has published the results of the TEPAV Food Price Index (TEGE) for the September 2026 period. Accordingly, food prices increased by 2.23 percent on a monthly basis during the September 1-25 period.
The index results showed that the monthly increase in food prices accelerated again in September. According to TEPAV data, annual food inflation was calculated at 30.1 percent.
In September, price movements in the fresh fruit and vegetable group were particularly notable. While the products with the highest price declines in this group were lemons, oranges, and tangerines, high-rate increases were recorded in eggplants, bananas, and tomatoes.
For products other than fresh fruits and vegetables, the most significant price increases were seen in margarine, beef, and ready-to-eat chicken dishes. Conversely, there were decreases in the prices of shelled hazelnuts, butter, and walnuts.
The index published by TEPAV on September 29 served as one of the first indicators regarding the outlook for food prices in September. As of the date of the announcement, food inflation data for September from other institutions had not yet been released.
