TESK President Palandöken: 'A special vehicle inspection system should be introduced for commercial vehicles'

TESK President Bendevi Palandöken made a written statement regarding vehicle inspection fees. Palandöken stated that high vehicle inspection fees are straining citizens and that a special vehicle inspection system should be introduced for commercial vehicles.

"CONVENIENCE SHOULD BE PROVIDED FOR CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS"

Stating that the 'credit card collection fee' charged for vehicle inspection payments made by credit card is unacceptable, Palandöken said, "As vehicle inspection fees, which rise every year, strain the pockets of citizens, they can now be paid by credit card in line with demands. However, an additional fee of 77 liras is charged under the name of 'credit card collection fee' for payments made by credit card. Citizens who are already paying high amounts for vehicle inspections do not want an additional fee for card payments.

Charging the credit card collection fee to the citizen is incompatible with a fair service approach. While convenience should be provided for credit card payments, a difficulty is being created in this way. Furthermore, the fact that this additional fee is not stated when making an appointment and that the citizen learns about this situation during payment brings an unexpected financial burden," he said.

"THE COST BURDEN OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLE OWNERS SHOULD BE EASED"

Pointing out that current inspection fees are very high and that citizens have difficulty paying these fees, Palandöken said, "This year, inspection fees for vehicles such as cars, minibuses, and pickup trucks have increased from 1,149 liras to 1,821 liras, and for tractors, motorcycles, and mopeds from 586.50 liras to 927.60 liras. For buses, trucks, tractor units, and tankers, the vehicle inspection fee has become 2,462.40 liras. These amounts are breaking the backs of citizens and tradesmen under today's economic conditions.

Vehicle inspection fees, which are performed at least every 2 years for private vehicles and every year for commercial vehicles, place a great burden on drivers. It is not fair to charge such high fees for a fault detection that takes only 10-15 minutes without maintenance and repair.

High costs such as annual vehicle maintenance, fixed expenses, regular monthly hikes in insurance, price increases in fuels such as gasoline, diesel, and LPG, and tire costs are already straining our tradesmen. For this reason, a special inspection system should be created for commercial vehicles. Furthermore, the cost burden on commercial vehicle owners should be eased by providing them with certain advantages and discounts," he stated.
