The company where Şahan Gökbakar also purchased an apartment has gone bankrupt
While the bankruptcy process for Çiftçiler Gayrimenkul continues, it has emerged that comedian Şahan Gökbakar, one of the famous figures who purchased an apartment from the Çiftçi Towers project, made the majority of his payments but did not receive his unit. Gökbakar is demanding the delivery of his apartment free of liens, while other buyers victimized by the project are also applying to the bankruptcy administration.

The process regarding one of the largest bankruptcy files of recent years is being conducted by the Istanbul 1st Bankruptcy Office. The file belongs to Çiftçiler Gayrimenkul Yatırım AŞ, a subsidiary of Çiftçiler Holding, which was once one of Turkey's largest conglomerates.
A bankruptcy decision was issued on June 30, 2022, for the company that built Çiftçi Towers, which consists of two 45-story towers in Zincirlikuyu. A bankruptcy administration, consisting of representatives of the largest creditors, was formed for the liquidation of the company.
According to the report by Dinçer Gökçe from Halk TV, it has been revealed that actor Şahan Gökbakar is among those who purchased real estate from the project built by the company, which owes hundreds of millions of dollars to banks.
A real estate sales contract was signed between Gökbakar and the company on April 11, 2012. Gökbakar purchased apartment number 247 on the 17th floor of the second tower. Gökbakar made nearly all of his payments as required by the contract.
HE DID NOT MAKE THE PAYMENT AS THE APARTMENT WAS NOT DELIVERED
It was agreed that the final payment of 50 thousand dollars would be made simultaneously with the delivery of the apartment. However, since the apartment was not delivered, Gökbakar did not make the remaining payment.
According to the minutes of the bankruptcy administration meeting dated July 15, Gökbakar filed an application through his lawyer. In summary, the application stated that Gökbakar is ready to pay the remaining 50 thousand dollars and requested that his apartment be registered in his name, cleared of any liens.
According to the aforementioned meeting minutes, in addition to Gökbakar, A. Merdan Araz is another individual who could not take delivery of the real estate he purchased from the project.
Çiftçiler Gayrimenkul and Askom Kamyon AŞ, which are currently in the liquidation process, were subsidiaries of Çiftçiler Holding, one of Turkey's most established conglomerates. Although the main field of activity of the holding, founded by the Çiftçi family from Mersin about 77 years ago, was automotive, energy, construction, and luxury yacht trading were among the group's leading areas of operation. Çiftçiler Holding, which served as an authorized dealer for car brands such as Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Jeep, and Chrysler, is known as the company that established the first truck factory in Turkey. Askam Kamyon remained one of the important players in the sector for many years.
