The most significant problem of the economy has been identified

As economic conditions across Turkey become more difficult by the day, recent surveys have revealed the issues that cause the most concern for the public. In a study conducted in the second half of January with 2,000 people across 26 different cities, participants were asked about the most serious economic problem facing the country.

According to the data obtained from the survey, 21.5% of participants pointed to the rise in housing and rent prices as the most significant issue amidst the high cost of living. Rising food prices ranked second, standing out with a rate of 18%.

High inflation followed in third place at 12.2%. The proportion of those who believe that basic utility expenses such as electricity, water, and natural gas are excessively high was recorded at 5.4%.

Furthermore, rising interest rates and economic management policies were among the issues that 5% of participants identified as the most prominent problem. Unemployment, insufficiency in production, fuel prices, and tax burdens were also among the other notable issues.

According to the survey, issues such as lack of meritocracy, problems related to the education system, and waste in the public sector also found a place on the list. Some participants stated that they did not see any problems (2.2%) or did not wish to express an opinion on the matter (2.5%).

The social impacts of economic hardships have also found wide resonance on social media platforms. Many users continued their discussions based on the results revealed by the survey and shared their suggestions for solutions.

The reflection of economic pressure and price increases in Turkey on citizens seems likely to continue to occupy the public agenda in the coming period.
