The products with the highest price increases and decreases in Istanbul in August have been announced

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the products with the highest retail price increases and decreases in Istanbul last August, along with their rates of change, in order to ensure market transparency and inform the public. Among the 242 products included in the ITO's Istanbul Wage Earners Cost of Living Index, the retail prices of 89 products increased, while the prices of 29 products fell and the prices of 124 products remained unchanged.

BRIDGE TOLL FEES IN ISTANBUL INCREASED BY 37.50 PERCENT IN AUGUST

In August, bridge toll fees, which are in the transportation expenditures group, were the product with the highest price increase at 37.50 percent. Some of the other products that saw price increases included fuel (natural gas) from the housing expenditures group with 29.57 percent, curly lettuce from the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures with 23.74 percent, match admission fees from the culture, education, and entertainment expenditures group with 20.77 percent, and from the miscellaneous and prepared foods subgroup of food expenditures, honey with 10.88 percent, tea with 10.69 percent, and bottled water fees with 8.13 percent.

FRESH GREEN BEANS BECAME 45.66 PERCENT CHEAPER

In August, fresh green beans, which are in the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of the food expenditures group, became the product with the largest price decrease, falling by 45.66 percent. Other products that saw price decreases included green peppers from the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures with 36.69 percent, plums with 29.66 percent, watermelons with 29.59 percent, melons with 25.28 percent, peaches with 23.39 percent, pears with 19.31 percent, fresh grapes with 14.22 percent, and zucchini with 10.31 percent.
