In Deutsche Bank's 2026 study, average monthly net salaries after tax in different cities around the world were compared.
In the study, which utilized Numbeo data, salaries were calculated in US dollars.
According to the research, the city where employees have the highest average net income is Zurich, Switzerland. The average monthly salary after tax in Zurich was recorded as 8,363 dollars.
Zurich was followed by San Francisco from the US and Geneva from Switzerland.
The average net monthly income in San Francisco was 7,601 dollars, and 7,444 dollars in Geneva.
5 CITIES FROM THE US IN THE TOP 10
The US appeared in the top 10 of the list with five cities. Along with San Francisco, Boston, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles were also among the cities where the highest average net salaries are paid.
Switzerland was represented in the top 10 with two cities, Zurich and Geneva. Luxembourg, Copenhagen, and Amsterdam from Europe also placed in the top 10 of the list.
ISTANBUL RANKS 56TH AMONG 69 CITIES
Istanbul ranked 56th among the 69 cities included in the research.
The average monthly salary after tax in the city was calculated as 1,173 dollars. With this result, Istanbul positioned itself behind Athens and ahead of Mexico City.
CAIRO IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST
The capital of Egypt, Cairo, took the last place on the list. The average monthly income after tax in the city was calculated as 220 dollars.
Thus, the difference between Zurich, where the highest average net salary in the research was seen, and Cairo, where the lowest salary was calculated, exceeded 38 times.
