Tomatoes saw the highest price increase in Istanbul in April

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the products with the highest price increases and decreases in April 2026. In Istanbul, the highest increase in April was in tomato prices, at 50.54 percent. Eggplant was the product with the largest price decrease, falling by 63.20 percent.

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the products with the highest price increases and decreases in Istanbul in April 2026, along with their rates, in order to ensure market transparency and inform the public. Compared to the previous month, price increases were observed in 250 of the 336 main products in the index, while price decreases were seen in 15 products.

TOMATO PRICES INCREASED BY 50.54 PERCENT IN APRIL

In April, tomatoes, which are in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages expenditure group, were the product with the highest price increase at 50.54 percent. Some of the other products that saw price increases were: Other Health Products in the Health Expenditures group at 29.87 percent, Lighting (Electricity Fees) in the Housing Expenditures group at 25.14 percent, Heating (Natural Gas Fees) in the Housing Expenditures group at 25 percent, Women's Skirts in the Clothing and Footwear Expenditures group at 24.72 percent, and Women's T-shirts in the Clothing and Footwear Expenditures group at 22.34 percent.

EGGPLANT PRICES FELL BY 63.20 PERCENT IN APRIL

In April, eggplant, which is in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages expenditure group, was the product with the largest price decrease, falling by 63.20 percent. Some of the other products that saw price decreases were: cucumbers in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages group at 38.12 percent, zucchini at 32.59 percent, strawberries at 27.15 percent, green beans at 20.35 percent, and toys in the Recreation and Culture Expenditures group at 11.05 percent.
