Total assets of the Turkish banking sector have increased
The total assets of the Turkish banking sector increased by 57.1 percent in November 2023 compared to the end of 2022, rising to 22 trillion 540 billion liras.

The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) has published the "Non-Consolidated Main Indicators of the Turkish Banking Sector" report for the period of November 2023.
According to the report, the total assets of the banking sector stood at 22 trillion 539 billion 870 million liras in November. While the sector's total assets recorded an increase of 8 trillion 192 billion 480 million liras compared to the end of 2022, this corresponds to a percentage increase of 57.1 percent.
Loans, the largest asset item of the sector, increased by 49.4 percent compared to the end of 2022 to reach 11 trillion 326 billion 915 million liras, while the total securities portfolio rose by 60.9 percent to 3 trillion 815 billion 755 million liras. During this period, the non-performing loan ratio stood at 1.51 percent.
Deposits, which constitute the largest source of funding among banks' resources, increased by 59.5 percent compared to the end of 2022, rising to 14 trillion 130 billion 945 million liras.
In the same period, total equity reached 1 trillion 968 billion 371 million liras with a 40 percent increase.
In the November 2023 period, the sector's net profit for the period was 535 billion 471 million liras, and the capital adequacy standard ratio stood at 18.29 percent.
