TÜİK has announced the inflation rates for August.
Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 51.97% annually and 2.47% monthly.
The change in the CPI in August 2024 was 2.47% compared to the previous month, 31.94% compared to December of the previous year, 51.97% compared to the same month of the previous year, and 64.91% based on twelve-month averages.
LOWEST INCREASE IN TRANSPORTATION
The main group that showed the lowest increase compared to the same month of the previous year was transportation at 28.96%. Conversely, the main group with the highest increase compared to the same month of the previous year was education at 120.81%.
Regarding main expenditure groups, the main group that decreased in August 2024 compared to the previous month was food and non-alcoholic beverages at -1.10%. Conversely, the main group with the highest increase in August 2024 compared to the previous month was education at 11.34%.
As of August 2024, out of the 143 basic headings covered in the index (Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose - COICOP 5-digit level), the indices of 22 basic headings decreased, while there was no change in the indices of 3 basic headings. The indices of 118 basic headings increased.
CPI INDICATOR
The change in the CPI excluding unprocessed food products, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and gold in August 2024 was 2.88% compared to the previous month, 32.19% compared to December of the previous year, 50.87% compared to the same month of the previous year, and 66.79% based on twelve-month averages.
ENAG HAD ANNOUNCED THE INFLATION RATE AS 90.35 PERCENT
