TÜİK announces unemployment data for January
According to the January 2025 labor force statistics announced by TÜİK, the unemployment rate fell to 8.4 percent. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 25 thousand compared to the previous month, reaching 3 million 2 thousand.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the labor force statistics for January 2025. According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey, the number of unemployed persons aged 15 and over decreased by 25 thousand compared to the previous month, recorded at 3 million 2 thousand.
The unemployment rate fell by 0.1 percentage points to 8.4 percent. When evaluated by gender, the unemployment rate was estimated at 6.5 percent for men and 12.1 percent for women.
LATEST STATUS ON YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT
The unemployment rate in the youth population (aged 15-24) decreased by 0.8 percentage points to 14.9 percent. In this age group, the male unemployment rate was determined to be 10.6 percent, while the female unemployment rate was 22.7 percent.
The seasonally and calendar-adjusted average weekly actual working hours increased by 0.8 hours in January 2025 compared to the previous month, rising to 43.4 hours.
On the other hand, the idle labor force rate, also known as broad unemployment, increased by 0.1 percentage points to 28.1 percent. The combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployment was 18.8 percent, while the combined rate of unemployment and potential labor force was 18.9 percent.
