TÜİK releases data: Sharp drop in the number of registered vehicles! How many vehicles are registered in Turkey?

There was a significant decrease in the number of vehicles registered in February 2025. According to TÜİK data, automobile registrations also saw a marked decline.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released motor land vehicle data for February 2025. During this period, a total of 136 thousand 810 vehicles were registered. While automobiles accounted for more than half of these vehicles, motorcycles and light trucks also held a significant share. Automobiles accounted for 50.2 percent, motorcycles for 32.7 percent, and light trucks for 9.2 percent.

29.3 PERCENT DECREASE IN 1 YEAR

The number of vehicles registered in February decreased by 17.5 percent compared to the previous month. While a decline was observed particularly in automobile and truck registrations, there was an increase in vehicle groups such as motorcycles and buses. Compared to the same month last year, total vehicle registrations decreased by 29.3 percent.

According to TÜİK data, a total of 31 million 596 thousand 522 vehicles are registered in Turkey. Automobiles accounted for 68.3 percent of the 762 thousand 109 vehicles registered in February. Among automobile brands, Renault, Toyota, and Fiat stood out, while 49.3 percent of the automobiles registered in the January-February period were gasoline-powered. As for color preferences, gray was the most popular choice.
