TÜİK releases industrial production index report: Contraction in the mining sector
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released the industrial production index for December 2023. According to the report, while a decline was observed in the mining and quarrying sector, the index for the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector increased.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released the industrial production index for December 2023.
When the sub-sectors of industry (with 2015=100 as the reference year) are examined, the mining and quarrying sector index decreased by 1.2% in December 2023 compared to the same month of the previous year, while the manufacturing industry sector index increased by 2.1% and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector index increased by 4.5%.
When the sub-sectors of industry are examined, the mining and quarrying sector index decreased by 0.7% in December 2023 compared to the previous month, the manufacturing industry sector index increased by 2.9%, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector index decreased by 0.1%.
