TÜRK-İŞ announces: Hunger threshold has surpassed the minimum wage!
According to research by TÜRK-İŞ, the hunger threshold in April rose to 17,725 Turkish Lira, exceeding the minimum wage of 17,002 Turkish Lira. The poverty threshold has risen to 57,736 Turkish Lira.

The April 2024 results of the "Hunger and Poverty Threshold Research," conducted monthly by TÜRK-İŞ to reveal the living conditions of employees and determine the reflections of price changes in basic necessities on family budgets, have been announced.
According to the research, the "hunger threshold," which represents the amount of food expenditure required for a family of 4 to have a healthy, balanced, and adequate diet, was 17,725 Turkish Lira in April.
The "poverty threshold," which corresponds to the total amount of mandatory expenditures for food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, health, and similar needs, was calculated as 57,736 Turkish Lira.
In the research, while the "cost of living" for a single employee was determined as 22,991 Turkish Lira per month, the minimum expenditure amount for food for a family of 4 living in Ankara showed an increase of 5.55 percent compared to the previous month.
The rate of change over the last 12 months was calculated at 74.88 percent.
CHICKEN MEAT PRICE INCREASED
According to the research, the price of beef was sold at an average of 523 Turkish Lira, an increase of 52 Turkish Lira compared to March, while lamb was sold at an average of 734 Turkish Lira. While fish prices increased, egg prices decreased. The average price per kilogram of chicken meat increased by 10 Turkish Lira.
In April, the average vegetable price per kilogram was calculated as 28.81 Turkish Lira, and the average fruit price per kilogram as 46.50 Turkish Lira.
An increase was observed in the price of black olives, while a partial decrease was observed in green olives. While the prices of oilseeds such as walnuts, hazelnuts, and peanuts remained unchanged, the price of sunflower seeds increased.
Sugar, honey, and molasses prices showed an increase in April.
