The puzzle game Royal Match, brought to life by Istanbul-based Dream Games, has created a massive shift in the mobile gaming world, leaving behind Microsoft-owned Candy Crush Saga, which had held its throne for many years. This striking success has overshadowed other smartphone games over the past 12 months, earning the title of the highest-grossing mobile game worldwide.
According to Data.ai's findings, Royal Match continued this success by reaching the top in terms of monthly revenue globally in July. Launched in 2021, this game made an entry valued at 2.75 billion dollars as the first game from the Turkish start-up Dream Games. The previous leader, Candy Crush Saga, had dominated the mobile gaming world for over a decade and reached 20 billion dollars in cumulative revenue. However, Dream Games' Royal Match has surpassed this giant, ushering in a new era in the sector.
IT EVEN SURPASSED CANDY CRUSH
The Financial Times stated that "the gaming firm, founded by a small team in Istanbul, has overshadowed many games, including Microsoft-owned Candy Crush."
The British broadcaster commented that the Turkish company is not like other companies trying to make short-term money, and that its small team is constantly striving to make the mobile game better.
