Unemployment Insurance Fund rate increased to 50 percent: 'They've connected the hose to the center'

Inflation Research Group (ENAG) President Veysel Ulusoy commented on his social media account after the ratio of the Unemployment Insurance Fund's previous year's premium revenues was increased to 50 percent for 2024, stating, "They've connected the hose to the center."

The Presidential Decree regarding the increase in the rate of Unemployment Fund revenues to be used for the purposes specified in the seventh paragraph of Article 48 of the Unemployment Insurance Law No. 4447 has entered into force, as published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly, it has been decided to increase the ratio of the Unemployment Insurance Fund's previous year's premium revenues, which was set at 30 percent in the aforementioned law, to 50 percent for the year 2024.

Inflation Research Group (ENAG) President Veysel Ulusoy reacted to the decision, stating the following in a post on X:

"They've connected the hose to the center.

My friends are transferring the money accumulated in the unemployment fund somewhere using academic sentences."
