Today, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) stated that the unemployment rate in Turkey was recorded at 8.6 percent in September. According to the published information, the number of unemployed individuals in this period was 3 million 100 thousand.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek shared the following remarks regarding the September unemployment data:

"Labor force indicators are performing more positively than our program targets; the unemployment rate remained at a low level of 8.6 percent in September. The contraction in industrial production that began in the second quarter continued in the third quarter, albeit at a slower pace. This development was driven by weak demand from Europe and the short-term, temporary effects of our steps to strengthen macro-financial stability on growth.

"PRODUCTION, EMPLOYMENT, AND EXPORTS WILL INCREASE"

In the coming period, more supportive global conditions, an increasing environment of confidence and predictability, improving expectations, and structural steps will support production, employment, and exports."
