Renowned economist Mahfi Eğilmez has made a statement regarding the recent increase in fake accounts on social media. Drawing attention to fraud attempts due to fake accounts opened in his name, Eğilmez warned his followers against these accounts and shared his official social media accounts.
Eğilmez emphasized that only the accounts indicated in the image he shared on the X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook platforms belong to him.
Stating that all other accounts are fake, he warned that such accounts could be used for fraudulent purposes.
Eğilmez made the following call to his followers:
"These are my X, Instagram, and Facebook accounts. Any others are fake and may be used for fraudulent purposes. Do not trust any accounts other than these three, and please report any fake accounts you see. Sorry for taking up your time. Best regards."
Eğilmez's statement once again revealed that fake accounts pose a threat not only to individuals but to society as a whole, and also raise questions about the reliability of social media platforms.
