Çarşamba Jewelers Association President Cumhur Kaya made statements regarding the recent fake gold fraud incidents in the Çarşamba and Terme districts, issuing warnings to both jewelers and citizens.

Stating that the price of gold exceeding 4,000 TL per gram has spurred fraudsters into action, Kaya said, "We receive reports of an incident almost every day. We are encountering such events not only in Çarşamba but across Samsun, along the Black Sea coast, and nationwide. We are trying to take precautions as much as we can. We are evaluating intelligence coming through our WhatsApp network."

Noting that fake gold incidents occurred in the Çarşamba and Terme districts in recent days, Kaya emphasized that fraudsters are particularly using 'chain' type gold for their counterfeiting.

Expressing that individuals attempting to sell fake chains to jewelers as if they were real have victimized many jewelers, Kaya said, "In the latest incident, I had issued warnings both as an association and personally. They committed fake gold fraud involving chains. We see that this has happened not only in Çarşamba but also in Terme, Ünye, and Samsun, and that some of our colleagues have been victimized. I hope their grievances will be resolved as soon as possible. Our fellow jewelers across the country and in Çarşamba must definitely be careful," he stated.

Calling on citizens to shop at reliable jewelers affiliated with the association, Kaya concluded his remarks by saying, "In places where there is no association, the probability of encountering substandard, low-karat, or problematic products is high. As the Çarşamba Jewelers Association, we cover approximately 70 firms and report on all of them. The jewelers association acts as an insurance policy between the citizen and the jeweler in Çarşamba. If our citizens experience any grievances, they can apply to the association. I do not think grievances will occur in places where there is an association."

Addressing the jewelers, Kaya also requested that they definitely send products brought in by people they do not recognize to be assayed and that they remain cautious in suspicious situations.
