The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Council has decided to increase water and wastewater tariffs for residences and workplaces by rates ranging from 15 to 35 percent, effective from May 5.
The April 2025 Extraordinary Meeting of İZSU was held at the Assembly Hall in the Kültürpark Fairgrounds, chaired by İzmir Metropolitan Deputy Mayor Zafer Levent Yıldır. With the decision taken at the meeting, a 15 percent increase will be applied to water consumption and wastewater services up to 10 cubic meters.
It was announced that the price hike rate will be 25 percent for those consuming between 11-20 cubic meters, and 35 percent for usage of 21 cubic meters and above. The regulations in question were accepted by a majority vote of the council members.
Under the new tariffs, the segment using between 0-4 cubic meters of water, which constitutes approximately 21 percent of total subscribers, will not be affected by the hike. A similar application will be valid for workplaces. No increase will be applied to workplaces defined as small businesses with a consumption of 0-4 cubic meters, while the same rates as residential tariffs will be applied to other tiers.
