What will the criteria be for the marriage loan?

Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş answered questions from members of the press following the Cabinet Meeting.

Minister Göktaş stated that there will be an age criterion for the interest-free marriage loan, noting that they expect it to be in the 18-27 age range.

Göktaş stated that the zero-interest loan will have a 4-year term with a 2-year grace period. Göktaş shared the following information regarding the matter:

"We are launching a pilot project for the earthquake zone. We will expand it subsequently. It was good news that our young people were waiting for. It is at the discretion of the Parliament. But we will implement this as soon as possible. We have established all the criteria; the entire infrastructure is currently ready. It is like 18-27 years old, but all of these will be discussed in Parliament.

There is an income criterion, there is an age criterion. Not having been involved in certain crimes and having lived in the earthquake zone. Everyone who meets these criteria will be able to benefit from this.

4-year loan, 2 years without repayment. It is a support that we will provide with zero interest. We need to issue a regulation subsequently.

The reason we are starting from the pilot region is to support our young people in the earthquake zone. To provide moral motivation there.

In response to the question, "Do we expect it to be released within this month?" Göktaş replied, "It will come to Parliament in the coming days. We have completed all our work. We expect it to be implemented before the new year."
