Which investment vehicle performed best in July?

According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the BIST 100 index provided the highest real return in July, while gold bullion continued to yield gains in the long term.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the real return rates of financial investment vehicles for July. In July, the BIST 100 index provided the highest real return to its investors, at 8.75 percent when deflated by the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) and 8.40 percent when deflated by the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This performance was noted as a development that pleased investors.

HIGHEST RETURN WITH D-PPI IS IN GDS

When deflated by the D-PPI, Government Debt Securities (GDS) provided a real return of 3.68 percent, while deposit interest (gross) yielded 1.79 percent and the Euro yielded 1.47 percent. However, the US Dollar and gold bullion provided negative returns to investors when deflated by the D-PPI. The US Dollar caused a loss of 0.17 percent, while gold bullion resulted in a loss of 0.47 percent.

When calculated with the Consumer Price Index (CPI), GDS was the vehicle that earned the most for investors with a return of 3.34 percent. Deposit interest (gross) provided a real return of 1.46 percent, and the Euro provided 1.15 percent. During this period, the US Dollar caused a loss of 0.16 percent, and gold bullion caused a loss of 0.79 percent.

In the three-month period, GDS provided the highest real return when deflated by both the D-PPI and the CPI. It achieved a gain of 6.12 percent with the D-PPI and 7.92 percent with the CPI. During the same period, the US Dollar caused the largest loss for its investors. A loss of 1.25 percent was experienced when deflated by the D-PPI, while a loss of 0.43 percent was recorded with the CPI.

HIGHEST RETURN IN THE 6-MONTH PERIOD IS IN GOLD

Looking at the six-month evaluation, gold bullion was the investment vehicle that provided the highest real return when deflated by both the D-PPI and the CPI. Gold bullion, which gained 21.98 percent with the D-PPI and 22.87 percent with the CPI, provided significant earnings for its investors. During the same period, the BIST 100 index caused losses for its investors under both indices.

HIGHEST RETURN IN THE ANNUAL PERIOD IS IN GOLD BULLION

In the annual evaluation, gold bullion provided the highest real return, at 37.17 percent when deflated by the D-PPI and 27.58 percent when deflated by the CPI. While gold stands out as the safest investment vehicle in the long term, the BIST 100 index caused losses for its investors under both indices. In the annual period, deposit interest (gross) provided a return of 15.46 percent to its investors with the D-PPI, and the Euro provided a return of 6.06 percent.
