İş Gıda A.Ş., which operated the KFC and Pizza Hut brands, had ceased operations at all its restaurants due to the unilateral termination of the contract by the brand owner, Yum! Brands.
Employees at 537 restaurants were left unemployed on January 8. Nearly 6,000 employees had held protests over their unpaid salaries and rights payments.
İş Gıda issued a statement on the matter. In its statement, the company said, "Our employees have no outstanding salary receivables from before 2025. Salaries for January, following the termination, could not be paid on the usual payment date. Legally, during the concordat process, employees can receive their unpaid salaries through İŞKUR during the final grace period of the concordat. However, in anticipation of this process potentially taking a long time, our company, prioritizing the January salaries that were due on February 5 but could not be paid, plans to pay them by the end of February using the revenue to be obtained following the transfer of the restaurants within February. Within the scope of termination procedures, our employees' severance pay, notice pay, and leave entitlements, if any, are legally reserved."
