Will there be a price hike for electricity and natural gas in May? Statement from Minister Bayraktar

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar made statements regarding natural gas and electricity prices during a television program he attended.

Speaking on NTV, Minister Bayraktar stated that there will be no price hikes for electricity and natural gas in May. Addressing natural gas subsidies, Bayraktar said, "We will continue to support groups that need to be supported from a social perspective. Perhaps a process of supporting all segments might not be the right approach," he stated.

"We will continue to support groups that need to be supported from a social perspective. Perhaps a process of supporting all segments might not be the right approach. We will also need to cover costs to a certain extent. We will continue to do whatever is possible within our means here.

NO PRICE HIKE IN MAY

There is an oil price reaching 87-88 dollars. We have started to see an upward movement in natural gas. It is out of the question for us to be independent of these. We are in an effort to provide them to our citizens in the most appropriate way. We went through election processes, yet there was no price hike in April. There is no expectation of a price hike in May either. But we will evaluate these according to developments and market conditions."
