Author Serpil Yıldız Özdemir, who reached a wide readership in a short time with her book "İçim Dışım Sobe," will meet with her readers on Monday, May 4, at 18:00, following the book's second printing, to chat, talk about her writing journey, and sign her books. The signing event will take place at Public Town in Fenerbahçe, Kadıköy.
Serpil Yıldız Özdemir asks the reader this question: Can you really hide? While asking this question, she also tries to bring the reader out of the dark corner where they are hiding.
In each story, the author strips away our social masks in a single move. Everything begins with a "sobe" (tag/found you) sound; we are left alone with all the truths we run from, all the secrets we keep silent about, and all the wounds we ignore. She makes one feel that subtle ache between submission to fate (Amor Fati) and resistance. She allows for the discovery of the unsettling depth beneath ordinary lives.
The back cover of the book reads: Life is sometimes as innocent as a child's game, and sometimes as ruthless as an executioner's cold-bloodedness. İçim Dışım Sobe forces us to stand on that invisible line and look at ourselves. Between these pages, you will encounter fathers who have their own chests shot to ease their son's pain, women who weave their revenge stitch by stitch in the cold light of a laboratory, and souls who find their own loneliness in the sound of the sea.
