Türkiye İş Bankası has published an important information text to raise awareness among its customers against phone fraud. It was noted that scammers using social engineering methods attempt to victimize people, particularly by imitating authority figures or making various promises.

The bank's statement included the following examples of methods used by scammers:

  • Creating threats by imitating authority figures: They may try to panic victims with phrases such as "We are calling from the police" or "Your connection to a terrorist organization has been detected!"
  • Making attractive promises: They may gain trust with promises like "To get your credit card fees back..." or "To refund your insurance costs..."
  • Creating a security threat: They aim to obtain personal information by saying, "A transaction has been made from your account. Could you share your password/the code sent to your phone to cancel the transaction?"
  • Emphasizing rewards or convenience: They may try to trap people by saying, "You have won a prize!" or "There is no need to come to the branch, let's do it right here!"
  • Making you feel valued: They may try to establish trust with phrases like "With special interest rates for our valued customers like you..."
  • Creating pressure to decide: They may attempt to force a quick decision by saying, "This opportunity is offered only for today..."

Türkiye İş Bankası emphasized the importance of ending the phone call immediately and reporting the situation to customer service when encountering such methods.
