TGC 66th Turkey Journalism Achievement Awards: Sinem Nazlı Demir wins the Internet News Award

The winners of the 2024 Turkey Journalism Achievement Awards, organized by the Journalists Association of Turkey (TGC), have been announced. The Journalists Association of Turkey, one of the country's most established professional organizations, presented its awards traditionally this year as well.

The Selection Committee that determined the winners consists of individuals who have achieved successful work in various media fields for many years. The committee included Habertürk columnist Ayşe Özek Karasu, Birgün website Editorial Coordinator Berkant Gültekin, Hürriyet Newspaper Publishing Director Emre Oral, Sabah Newspaper Sports Columnist Gürcan Bilgiç, Freelance Cameraman Gürsel Çelikkanat, Nasıl Bir Ekonomi Newspaper Chairman of the Board Hakan Güldağ, Cumhuriyet Newspaper Culture and Arts Editor Öznur Oğraş Çolak, Milliyet Newspaper Managing Editor Pınar Aktaş, and Sol Haber website Editor-in-Chief Uğur Güç.

The Selection Committee met at the Journalists Association of Turkey on March 5, 2025. Ayşe Özek Karasu was elected as the committee chair, and Berkant Gültekin was elected as the secretary.

INTERNET NEWS AWARD: SİNEM NAZLI DEMİR

The 2024 Internet News Award was given to Sinem Nazlı Demir for her report titled “Dozens of people abused a child, all were released! The child and family's quest for justice”, which was published on the 12Punto website on December 9, 2024.

The report's contribution to increasing social awareness by providing an in-depth examination of child abuse and the quest for justice was a significant factor in it being deemed worthy of the award.
