The Ministry of National Education has launched an examination and investigation into private schools that have implemented exorbitant price hikes in violation of regulations for student enrollment for the 2025-2026 academic year.

In order to prevent grievances among parents, the Ministry examined data from the last two years in the Ministry of National Education Information Systems (MEBBIS). This study determined that some private schools across Turkey had implemented increases exceeding relevant regulations not only in tuition fees but also in fees for study sessions, books and stationery, uniforms, and meals.

PARENT COMPLAINTS TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT

In line with complaints received by the Ministry, both the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Trade have initiated examinations and investigations into certain private schools that have engaged in pricing contrary to regulations.

NEW REGULATION BEING IMPLEMENTED

The Ministry of National Education made significant changes to the Private Educational Institutions Regulation on January 3 to prevent exorbitant price hikes. With the provision added to the regulation, private schools are prohibited from making increases that are disproportionate to the service provided in tuition fees for kindergarten, first, fifth, and ninth grades, which are the entry levels for each stage.
