Departments chosen by YKS top scorers revealed

According to the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) results, the choices of the 6 students who achieved a perfect score of 500 in 2025 have been revealed. While it was notable that none of the top scorers chose medical school this year, 5 students enrolled in engineering and 1 student in law.

ENGINEERING AND LAW STAND OUT

According to the statement made by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Ahmet Eren Özyurtseven, who placed first in the TYT and AYT numerical score categories, was admitted to the Computer Engineering department at Koç University with a scholarship. Muhammed İsmail Kuşat, who placed first in the AYT verbal and equal weight score categories, enrolled in the Faculty of Law at Galatasaray University.

YDT English top scorer Mehmet Sarak was admitted to the Computer Engineering department at Bilkent University, while YDT French top scorer Arda Eren Kartal was accepted into the Engineering and Natural Sciences programs at Sabancı University with a scholarship. YDT Arabic top scorer Abdulvahap Burro enrolled in the Computer Engineering department at Istanbul Technical University, and YDT Russian top scorer Ediz Doğan Karakoç enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering department at Boğaziçi University.

While medical school has held an important place among the choices of YKS top scorers in past years, this trend changed this year. In 2023, 3 top scorers had chosen medical school. Medical school had also been among the preferred departments in 2021 and 2022.

YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar stated that registrations will take place between September 1-5 following the preference process, and emphasized that students should take advantage of the opportunities that university life offers them. Özvar stated that candidates who were not placed should carefully follow the additional placement process and that they will be able to make new choices for the small number of vacant quotas during this period.
