AGS WILL REPLACE KPSS IN TEACHER RECRUITMENT

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin met with journalists at the Sabancı Teachers' House to evaluate the significant developments of the past year and share his goals and projects for 2025. The most notable point in Minister Tekin's statements was the new system to be implemented in teacher recruitment. Currently, teacher candidates were appointed via the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS), but this process is changing as of 2025. Teacher candidates will take the Academy Entrance Exam (AGS) instead of the KPSS. Candidates accepted to the National Education Academy based on their AGS results will be appointed after completing the necessary training.

WHAT IS THE MEB ACADEMY ENTRANCE EXAM (AGS) AND WHEN WILL IT BE HELD?

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has announced the dates for the 2025 Academy Entrance Exam (2025-MEB-AGS) and the Teaching Field Knowledge Test (2025-ÖABT). The Academy Entrance Exam will be held on July 13, 2025, together with the ÖABT.

Exam applications will be accepted between May 8, 2025, and May 20, 2025. The date set for late applications is May 28, 2025.

The date for the announcement of the exam results has been announced as August 13, 2025.

HOW MANY QUESTIONS WILL BE ON THE MEB AGS?

In the Academy Entrance Exam (AGS) to be held under the scope of the MEB-AGS, teacher candidates will be asked 80 questions. In the ÖABT session, candidates will be asked 50 questions related to their field knowledge.

HAS THE MEB AGS SUBJECT DISTRIBUTION BEEN DETERMINED?

Although no official statement has been made regarding the AGS yet, according to information obtained from MEB sources, the question distribution is expected to be as follows:

Verbal Ability

Meaning in Words, Meaning in Sentences, Formation of Expression, Meaning in Paragraphs, and Verbal Reasoning: 18.75%

Numerical Ability

Basic Mathematics, Graph and Table Interpretation, Logical Reasoning Problems: 18.75%

History

a) History of Pre-Ottoman Turkish States (Political, social, economic, and cultural developments)

b) Ottoman History (Political, social, economic, and cultural developments from the 13th century to the beginning of the 20th century)

c) History of Atatürk's Principles and Reforms (Political, social, economic, and cultural developments in Turkish history from the beginning of the 20th century to the end of World War II)

ç) Contemporary Turkish and World History (Developments in the world from the beginning of the 20th century to the present; political, social, economic, and cultural developments in Turkey from the end of World War II to the present)

The weight of this section in the exam has been set at approximately 12.5%.
