Good news from Minister Tekin regarding cleaning staff: 30 thousand to be hired

With the start of the new academic year, the issue of school cleanliness had become a subject of debate. Due to the shortage of cleaning staff, school administrations have been requesting financial support from parents to hire personnel. In some schools, parents have even been taking turns cleaning the school and classrooms. Regarding the discussions on cleanliness, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin announced that a new step will be taken. Speaking on a CNN Türk broadcast, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin said, "The problems will be solved next week."

"WE HAVE 45 THOUSAND STAFF"

Minister Tekin used the following expressions in his statement:

"May the new academic year be auspicious. First, let's clarify this issue. We have permanent cleaning staff in nearly 45 thousand of our schools. We used to handle the remaining schools through subcontractors."

"30 THOUSAND MORE CLEANING STAFF WILL BE HIRED"

Minister Tekin continued his statement as follows:

"The problem began after subcontractors were transitioned to permanent staff status. 120 thousand personnel were assigned on a part-time basis. Applications for this project, the Labor Force Adaptation Project, remained very limited. Despite the creation of 120 thousand employment slots, only 25 percent could be filled. This shortage in demand led to such a problem in our schools. As of Monday, 30 thousand cleaning staff will be hired by Wednesday. We will solve the problem with additional personnel next week."
