Major scandal in private schools: 403 diplomas cancelled
Comprehensive inspections conducted by the Ministry of National Education in private schools have uncovered serious irregularities, including fake grades, ghost classrooms, and registrations without equivalency. While 403 student diplomas were cancelled, the grade advancement of 398 students was declared invalid. Six private schools were closed due to practices violating regulations.

Serious irregularities were identified during inspections conducted by the Ministry of National Education's General Directorate of Private Education Institutions in private schools across Turkey. It was determined that some students' absences were not recorded by school administrations, imaginary grades were assigned without students taking exams, and some did not meet the requirements for formal secondary education enrollment. Students whose equivalency documents were not found in Ministry records were also discovered.
403 DIPLOMAS, 398 GRADE ADVANCEMENTS CANCELLED
As a result of the inspections, the diplomas of 403 students found to be involved in irregularities were cancelled. Furthermore, the grade advancement of 398 students who did not attend school and were assigned grades without participating in exams was declared invalid, and they were reverted to their previous grade level.
6 SCHOOLS CLOSED
During the inspections, private schools that established "ghost classrooms" for 12th-grade students who did not meet the requirements for transferring to open high schools—where no lessons were taught and no attendance records were kept—were also identified.
These classrooms were created for students to prepare for university entrance exams through full-time courses. The operating licenses of 6 private schools that engaged in these practices, which violate regulations, were cancelled by the Ministry of National Education.
