Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin announces new measures for schools

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin made important statements regarding the new security measures to be taken in schools. Stating that "our pain, our mourning, and our responsibility are shared," Tekin emphasized that the entire society must act with a sense of responsibility. Minister Tekin stated that the new security measures will cover both physical and digital areas.

NEW STEPS FOR SCHOOL SAFETY

While listing the measures to be taken to increase safety in schools, Minister Tekin announced that new steps will be taken against digital risks in addition to physical security precautions. The Minister stated that risks targeting children, especially in the dark corners of the digital world, will be monitored more closely through AI-supported tracking and analysis. In this way, he emphasized that the early detection of risks and intervention processes will be strengthened.

AI-SUPPORTED EARLY WARNING SYSTEM TO BE ACTIVATED

Tekin stated that another important step to be taken for school safety is the creation of an AI-supported risk analysis and early warning system. With this system, which will strengthen data sharing and cooperation between ministries, indicators such as absenteeism, disciplinary data, and school risks will be evaluated together. In this way, problems that may occur in schools can be detected at early stages, and relevant units will be able to intervene quickly.

Minister Tekin announced that they will make the "Parent Appointment System" more effective in order to strengthen family-school communication. He also announced that a support and consultation line will be established for parents facing digital addiction and other risks. With this line, it will be ensured that families can more closely monitor their children's exposure to digital content.

The Minister stated that comprehensive training will be provided to teachers and school administrators on crisis management, classroom intervention, and early warning systems. The training will support teachers in creating a safe and healthy environment in schools.

PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT MECHANISM TO BE STRENGTHENED

Expressing that the mechanisms providing psychosocial support to students will be further strengthened, Minister Tekin stated that the "Emotion and Value-Based Digital Well-being Project," which has been piloted in 23 provinces, will be expanded to the entire country. With this project, a more sensitive approach to students' inner worlds will be adopted, and protective, preventive, and remedial tools will be put into operation.

The Minister announced that they will also take measures against risk areas outside of schools. He stated that a stronger tracking and supervision framework will be established against content that threatens the safety of children in media content, digital platforms, and other areas. It was stated that new applications regarding age verification and content security will be introduced against digital content targeting children.

Minister Tekin stated that they need the support of the entire society in the implementation of these measures.
