Minister Tekin announced: Curriculum will change, interviews will continue!

Responding to questions from members of the press following the Cabinet meeting at Beştepe, Minister Tekin stated the following:

INTERVIEWS WILL CONTINUE

"According to the decree-law regulating the National Education Organization Law, an oral examination practice was introduced for teacher recruitment. According to the system established in 2016, three times the number of candidates who pass a certain score threshold in the KPSS are called for an oral exam. Therefore, the existence of an oral exam in teacher recruitment is currently a legal requirement. Since there has been no change in the law, the interview system is already continuing."

TEACHER EMİNE

Teacher Emine, who had criticized the "Century of Turkey" at a private school in Ankara during the 100th-anniversary celebrations of the Republic, had been detained. Minister Tekin said the following regarding the matter:

"How can we approve of this behavior by a teacher? When such problems occur and the relevant units are informed, they do what is necessary. Children are entrusted to us, we must act accordingly."

CURRICULUM WILL CHANGE

Highlights from Minister Tekin's statements are as follows:

"I can share with you a topic that currently constitutes an important heading on our agenda. We will likely share the change we will make to the curriculum with the public in December. Because we have been working on the subject of curriculum change for a long time. Today, we held a meeting with our relevant colleagues on this matter. We will share the subject with the public within the month of December. We are working on a curriculum change that will cover all grades. With the change in question, we will not burden our children with unnecessary information that is above their level. There will be a simplification in all courses. Since the curriculum is heavy, we will now lighten this burden a little."
