New course in primary school curriculum from the Ministry of National Education!

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) is preparing to add a new course to the primary school curriculum as of 2026. According to the 2026 Presidential Annual Program, a "conscious consumer" course will be taught in primary schools. This will ensure that students become aware of consumer rights at an early age.

Content regarding conscious consumption will also be added to the programs of appropriate elective courses.

EDUCATION SYSTEM TO BECOME MORE FLEXIBLE AND RESILIENT

The program envisions making the education system more resilient and flexible against extraordinary situations. Additionally, an individualized learning model will be activated, and the distance education infrastructure will be developed.

GOAL OF EQUAL OPPORTUNITY IN PRESCHOOL EDUCATION

The 2026 Presidential Program states that physical and human infrastructure will be increased to strengthen preschool education.

In order to ensure equal opportunity in preschool education, different models will be implemented according to economic and social development levels. Within this scope, temporary village preschool classes, transportation-based preschool classes, and at-home preschool education models will be implemented.

Support from philanthropists and the private sector in this area will be encouraged. Governorates will be informed to prioritize directing incoming donations and aid to the field of preschool education.

STUDENTS WILL LEARN CONSUMER RIGHTS AT AN EARLY AGE

The program aims for "a trade environment where producer and consumer rights are protected, quality-focused, and with easy and low transaction costs." In this framework, legislation regarding consumer protection will be reviewed, and special measures will be taken for sensitive consumer groups.

With the "conscious consumer" course to be added to the primary school curriculum, it is aimed that students will grow up as individuals who have awareness of consumer rights at a young age. Furthermore, content regarding conscious consumption will be included in appropriate elective courses.

PREVENTIVE STEPS AGAINST THE RISK OF DROPPING OUT OF EDUCATION

It is planned to make educational environments suitable for the mental and physical development of children, to ensure child safety, and to establish preventive mechanisms for students at risk of dropping out of school.

It is aimed to increase physical and human resources for individuals in need of special education and to strengthen the infrastructure of special education schools.

Additionally, basic mathematics and literacy activity programs will be prepared for students receiving education through mainstreaming and integration practices during the basic education period.

DISTANCE EDUCATION INFRASTRUCTURE TO BE STRENGTHENED

It is envisioned that the distance education infrastructure will be developed so that the education system is not interrupted in extraordinary situations.

Integration of digital content will be provided through MEBİ, the "artificial intelligence-supported individual learning platform." Artificial intelligence-supported assistant and learning analytics features will be developed on this platform.

Furthermore, more teaching materials, educational videos, simulations, and enriched book content will be produced on the Education Information Network (EBA).

CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUSTAINABILITY-THEMED ACTIVITIES WILL INCREASE

It is planned to increase science, art, culture, and sports activities in schools.

Within the scope of the fight against addiction, theater, painting, short film competitions, and debate events will be organized in cooperation with various institutions.

The "National GençTek Summit" will be organized for teachers and students working in the field of informatics to share their projects.

Additionally, painting, poetry, poster, and short film competitions themed around climate change, sustainability, and volunteering will be held among students.
