New decision from YÖK... Bad news for graduates of that department: They will not be registered

It has been reported that the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has taken a new decision regarding the registration of diplomas for graduates of master's and doctoral programs in the field of Clinical Psychology.

Within the scope of the decision taken by the YÖK Executive Board, a change has been made in the practice for those who have graduated from Clinical Psychology programs and wish to have their diplomas registered as "Clinical Psychology".

NOT ALL GRADUATES WILL BE DIRECTLY REGISTERED ANYMORE

According to the decision, it has been decided that not all graduates who hold master's or doctoral degrees in Psychology and Applied Psychology will be directly registered with the title of "Clinical Psychologist".

In this context, it was stated that the diplomas of graduates from these fields will not be automatically recorded with the title of Clinical Psychologist.

The decision taken by the Board also states that an exceptional practice has been introduced for some graduates.

Accordingly, it has been decided that the diplomas of graduates who were studying within the "Applied Psychology" major field before July 18, 2018, and whose "Clinical Psychology" sub-field was clearly stated on their diploma, will be directly registered.

It was reported that individual applications for registration as Clinical Psychologists by graduates of "Psychology" and "Applied Psychology" whose diplomas do not contain sub-field information will be taken into consideration.

It was stated that these applications will be evaluated within the scope of Article 13 of the Additional Provisions of Law No. 1219 on the Practice of Medicine and Medical Arts.
