New era in high schools: Published in the Official Gazette
Amendments made to the Ministry of National Education's Regulation on Secondary Education Institutions have been published in the Official Gazette. The new regulations cover teacher and administrator training, conditions for failing a grade due to absenteeism, student transfers, diploma procedures, and equivalency processes for foreign students.

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has made amendments to the Regulation on Secondary Education Institutions. With the regulations published in the Official Gazette, training for teachers and administrators has been made mandatory, and students who fail a grade due to absenteeism have been granted the right to continue their education provided they sign a contract with a business. Additionally, in cases of lost diplomas, a certificate of education status will be issued instead of a reprint.
With the new regulation, teachers and administrators who will work in schools that accept students based on central exam scores will be required to complete training determined by the ministry at the National Education Academy. Commissions will be established at the provincial and ministry levels for the selection, supervision, and evaluation of these schools. Thus, appointments will be made according to more transparent and objective criteria.
IF A DIPLOMA IS LOST, A NEW ONE WILL NOT BE ISSUED
Another significant change in the regulation concerns lost diplomas. From now on, in cases where a diploma is damaged beyond use or lost, a new diploma will not be issued; instead, a certificate of education status will be provided.
RIGHT TO EDUCATION FOR ABSENTEE STUDENTS CONDITIONED ON BUSINESS CONTRACT
A new regulation has also been introduced for students who fail a grade due to absenteeism. Students who have the right to education will be able to continue their studies if they sign a contract with a business. This step aims to encourage vocational training.
Changes have also been made to the equivalency procedures for foreign students. Accordingly, students who register by the end of October will be eligible to receive a diploma.
MANDATORY MEDICAL REPORT FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES
A requirement to obtain a medical report has been introduced for students with special education needs who are unable to participate in activities during physical education classes.
The regulation includes a provision that in-service training will be provided to foreign language teachers by the General Directorate of Teacher Training and Development.
It has been decided that necessary measures will be taken to protect students from all kinds of negative behavior in the educational environment, that closer cooperation will be established with parents, and that responsibility exams for Turkish Language and Literature and Foreign Language courses will be conducted in two stages, consisting of written and practical components.
The provisions of the regulation will be executed by the Minister of National Education.
