New formula in the education system: Yusuf Tekin says 'there are 2 options on the table'

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin evaluated current issues regarding the education system during a television program he attended.

Touching upon the potential changes planned by the Ministry of National Education, Tekin made statements regarding the debates, particularly concerning the duration of compulsory education.

"OPTIONS ARE BEING DISCUSSED"

Responding to a question about whether the 12-year compulsory education will change, Tekin said that there is no finalized decision on this matter yet.

Stating that public opinion is being taken into account regarding the regulations to be made, Tekin used the following expressions:

"Before making any decisions, we open the subject to discussion and follow the views of the public. We see that in many parts of the world, with the ease of access to information, the age of starting university is being moved to earlier periods."

UNIVERSITY FORMULA AT AGE 15-16

Minister Tekin stated that one of the options being evaluated regarding the education system is for students to start higher education at an earlier age.

Tekin made the following statement on this subject:

"Moving from this, we are working on whether we can develop a mechanism where higher education can be started from the age of 15-16."

PRESCHOOL MAY BECOME COMPULSORY

Tekin said that another option being evaluated is making preschool education compulsory.

Stating that whether the duration of compulsory education can be rearranged within this scope is being discussed, Tekin used the following expressions:

"Can we shorten the duration of the 12-year compulsory education by making preschool compulsory? We are discussing and monitoring these."

"THE FINAL DECISION WILL REST WITH THE TBMM"

Minister Tekin stated that the final decision regarding the changes that could be made to the education system will be made by the legislative body.
