Number of candidates applying for YKS announced

Prof. Dr. Bayram Ali Ersoy, President of the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), announced that 3 million 36 thousand 945 candidates have applied for the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS), which will be held on June 8-9.

Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) President Prof. Dr. Bayram Ali Ersoy announced the data regarding YKS applications in a written statement.

Stating that 3 million 36 thousand 945 candidates have applied for the TYT, the first session of the YKS to be held on Saturday, June 8 at 10:15, Ersoy provided the following information:

"A total of 228 thousand 814 candidates will participate in the second session, the AYT, to be held on Sunday, June 9 at 10:15, with 1 million 983 thousand 766 candidates, and the third and final session, the YDT, to be held on the same day at 15:45, with 218 thousand 316 candidates in English, 5 thousand 717 in Arabic, 2 thousand 849 in German, 1172 in French, and 760 in Russian"

Ersoy stated that 1 million 580 thousand 984 of the candidates who applied for the YKS are women and 1 million 455 thousand 961 are men, adding, "The youngest candidate is 15 and the oldest is 85. Those applying for the exam are concentrated between the ages of 17-23, and there are 26 thousand 331 applications from candidates aged 50 and over. The number of female candidates over the age of 34 is 118 thousand 923"

SCHOOL TYPES OF APPLICANTS

ÖSYM President Ersoy also noted the following regarding the school types and educational status of the candidates:

"974 thousand 521 of the candidates are from Anatolian high schools, 717 thousand 732 from vocational high schools, 570 thousand 415 from open education high schools, 232 thousand 967 from imam hatip high schools, 96 thousand 524 from science high schools, 10 thousand 795 from social sciences high schools, and 10 thousand 647 from sports and fine arts high schools.

The number of candidates in their final year of high school is 1 million 93 thousand 697, and the number of candidates who have graduated from high school but have not been placed in a higher education program is 1 million 184 thousand 189. The number of registered candidates who have been placed in a higher education program is 316 thousand 260, the number of candidates waiting in the final year of a secondary education institution is 12 thousand 652, the number of candidates who have been placed in a higher education program but did not register is 58 thousand 455, the number of candidates who have graduated from a higher education program is 293 thousand 925, and the number of candidates who have had their registration deleted from a higher education institution and applied for the exam is 77 thousand 767."

15 THOUSAND 821 PEOPLE PAID NO FEES AS RELATIVES OF MARTYRS AND VETERANS

Reminding that no exam fees, application service fees, or placement fees are charged to veterans and the spouses and children of martyrs and veterans who apply for the exams, Ersoy shared the information that, "In this context, 15 thousand 821 candidates who applied for the 2024-YKS were exempted from the exam fee"

SENSITIVE WORK

Providing information about disabled candidates as well, Ersoy announced that a total of 12 thousand 691 disabled candidates will participate in the TYT, 8 thousand 171 in the AYT, and 988 in the YDT.

Emphasizing that they are working with sensitivity to ensure that disabled candidates do not experience any negativity and that their disability status does not turn into a disadvantage for them, Ersoy made the assessment, "Our primary desire is to provide an environment where they can receive the rewards of their efforts and hard work"

FIRST-TIME APPLICANTS

Bayram Ali Ersoy stated, "While 1 million 404 thousand 156 of the candidates are applying for the exam for the first time, 798 thousand 409 candidates are making their second application, 442 thousand 64 candidates their third, 219 thousand 390 candidates their fourth, and 172 thousand 926 candidates have made five or more applications"

Stating that the application process has been completed with the end of late applications for the YKS, Ersoy noted the following:

"We are meticulously carrying out the necessary work at all stages and taking precautions to ensure that the process runs in the healthiest way possible. We continue our cooperation with the relevant institutions. We are striving to ensure that our candidates, whose efforts we see as our trust, take the exam in the most suitable environment.
